Terms of Use of Lock In

This is a translation of the Spanish original. If the two versions ever disagree, the Spanish one prevails.

SUMMARY

This is the agreement between you and us about how Lock In is used. In short: be at least 14, treat other people well, do not post things that cause harm, and understand that Fiboccoins are tokens inside the app and not money. If you break the rules, we can remove content or close your account.

Lock In is free and does not currently sell anything.

How we handle your personal data is explained in a separate document, the Privacy Policy.

1. ACCEPTANCE

By creating an account or using Lock In, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.

Lock In is distributed through Google Play, so Google's own terms apply to your use as well. We cannot change those.

2. WHAT LOCK IN IS

Lock In is an Android app for focusing, measuring study or work sessions, checking statistics, organising tasks, growing a garden of effort, and studying alongside friends and groups.

It includes social features: friendships, study groups, live presence, group chat and a group board. It also includes decorative items obtained with an internal currency called the Fiboccoin.

3. MINIMUM AGE

You need to be 14 or older to use Lock In. That is the age at which Spanish law allows a person to consent to the processing of their own data in online services, and Lock In has chat and profiles that other people can see.

When you sign in we ask your age once. If you answer that you are under 14, you will not be able to use the app. Your account waits for you: the day you reach that age you can sign in with the same email address.

If we find that an account belongs to someone below the minimum age, we will suspend it.

4. YOUR ACCOUNT

You need an account to use Lock In. When you create one you agree to give accurate information and to keep your credentials secret. You are responsible for what happens in your account.

An account is personal: do not share it or hand it to anyone.

If you believe someone has accessed your account, write to us immediately at hantronoks@gmail.com.

You can close your account whenever you want from the app's settings. When you do, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy, and you lose your Fiboccoin balance and any items you obtained.

5. COMMUNITY RULES

Lock In has chat, a board and public profiles. It is forbidden to post, send or display:

  • Sexually explicit content, and in particular any content involving minors. We will report the latter to the competent authorities.
  • Harassment, threats, intimidation, or incitement to hatred or violence against a person or group, especially on the grounds of race, origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Insults directed at other people and any degrading treatment.
  • Content promoting self-harm, eating disorders or suicide.
  • Other people's personal data without their permission.
  • Impersonation of another person, brand or organisation.
  • Unsolicited advertising, chain messages, scams or links to malicious content.
  • Content that infringes third-party copyright or trade marks.
  • Illegal activity of any kind.

You also may not try to access parts of the service that are not yours, bypass usage limits, manipulate the app to obtain Fiboccoins or rewards you are not entitled to, or automate your use of the service with programs.

6. WHAT YOU POST

The content you post — messages, board phrases, display name, bio, images — remains yours.

So that we can show it inside the app, you grant us a free, non-exclusive licence limited to that purpose: to host it, copy it and display it to the people who are meant to see it within Lock In. That licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for copies we must keep by legal obligation or those other people have already saved on their own.

We do not use your content for advertising and we do not sell it to anyone.

You are responsible for what you post and for having the right to post it.

7. REPORTS AND MODERATION

If you see content or behaviour that breaks the rules in the previous section, write to us at hantronoks@gmail.com with "Lock In Report" in the subject line, telling us the group, the person and, if you can, a screenshot. We review every report we receive.

Whoever creates a group can remove messages posted in that group's chat.

Depending on how serious it is, we may: remove the content, warn the user, limit features on their account, suspend it temporarily, or close it permanently. We may also do so on our own initiative when something breaks these rules or the law.

If your account is suspended and you believe it is a mistake, write to that same address and we will review the decision.

8. FIBOCCOINS AND ITEMS

Fiboccoins are an internal currency that exists only inside Lock In and serves only to obtain decorative items. You get them by using the app: by completing your first tree of effort or by taking part in the invitation programme.

You need to understand the following:

  • They are not money. They are not legal tender, a means of payment, a financial asset or a cryptocurrency.
  • They have no value outside the app. They cannot be exchanged for money, transferred to another person, sold or traded outside Lock In.
  • They are not your property. What you get is a personal, revocable licence to use them inside the app, and the same applies to the items you obtain with them.
  • They are lost when the account is closed, whether you close it or we do.
  • We may change the catalogue, the internal prices and how they are earned at any time.
  • If we find that a balance was obtained through fraud, manipulation or abuse of the features, we may remove it.

9. INVITATION PROGRAMME

You can invite other people with your code or your link. When the person who accepted the invitation meets the conditions published inside the app, you both receive Fiboccoins.

Creating fake accounts, using several devices or any other method to claim rewards that do not correspond to genuine invitations is forbidden. If we detect abuse we may withdraw the rewards, void the affected invitations and suspend the accounts involved.

We may change or end the programme at any time.

10. AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES TO THE SERVICE

We work to keep Lock In running, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free of faults. There may be interruptions for maintenance, because of our providers, or for reasons beyond our control.

We may change, add or remove features. If we remove an important feature or stop providing the service, we will give reasonable notice inside the app whenever possible.

Some features need an internet connection and a compatible version of Android.

11. SUSPENSION AND CLOSURE BY US

We may suspend or close your account if you break these rules — especially the community ones — if you use the service fraudulently or to harm other people, if you are below the minimum age, or if a legal obligation requires it.

Except in serious cases or where the law prevents it, we will tell you and explain why, and you may ask us to review the decision.

12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Lock In, its code, design, illustrations, avatars, gardens, visual themes, music and name belong to us or are used under licence. You may not copy, modify, distribute, decompile or create derivative works from them, except as the law expressly allows.

The items you obtain inside the app give you the right to use them there. They do not transfer ownership to you.

If you believe something in Lock In infringes your rights, write to hantronoks@gmail.com describing the content and your right over it.

13. LIABILITY

Lock In is a tool to support focus and study. It is not a medical, formal educational, psychological or professional service of any kind, and its statistics and measurements are indicative.

We are not responsible for content posted by other people or for what happens in your dealings with them. We do act when content that breaks these rules is reported to us.

Lock In is offered free of charge and, to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, loss of profit, or loss of data not attributable to us. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, harm to life or personal integrity, or any other liability the law does not allow to be excluded.

We recommend keeping your own copies of any information that matters to you.

14. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms when Lock In's features or our legal obligations change. The date in the header identifies the version in force.

If a change is substantial, we will give reasonable notice inside the app. If you do not agree with the new version, you can close your account.

15. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. If you live in another European Union country, this choice does not deprive you of the protection granted by the mandatory rules of your place of residence.

Before anything else, write to us: most problems are solved in a single email to hantronoks@gmail.com, with "Lock In" in the subject line. We will reply within one month at the latest.
